Checking the official figures
Brazil's Superior Electoral Court, TSE, announced Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's reelection. It published 51.79% of valid votes for Lula and 48.21% for Flávio Bolsonaro. This article uses those figures rather than percentages from earlier partial-count reports.
The election does not settle every policy
This is Lula's fourth presidential election victory. It does not itself enact every economic or foreign-policy proposal. Official announcements and congressional debate will show what follows. The durable distinction is between the result already decided and policies still to be determined.
