Looking at incentives and distribution
Japan's communications ministry proposed measures to reduce harmful effects on electoral fairness. October 25 reporting highlighted examples for large social platforms, including stopping monetization of false or misleading election posts and detecting or labeling AI-generated images and videos.
Still under consultation
The official consultation runs from October 24 through November 24 and also covers an ordinance amendment. Listing measures in a draft does not make every example immediately mandatory. How standards are explained, mistakes corrected and freedom of expression respected remains important to follow.
