October 19 company announcement. Tokyo's selection notice was dated October 16; commercial deliveries did not launch on October 19.
Trials across three waterfront areas
The consortium plans flight and service trials for deliveries to high-rise apartments. It will use Level 3.5 operations while looking toward Level 4 flights, which are beyond visual line of sight over populated areas.
Testing the whole delivery process
The companies identify driver shortages, redelivery and movement inside apartment buildings as challenges. The project combines flight operations with receiving parcels and building management. Routes, landing locations and coordination with authorities and residents remain part of the work. Selection by Tokyo and the firms' announcement have different dates.
