Code payments join Mobile Suica
An October 20 Keitai Watch press-event report confirms that JR East started teppay that day. The feature is available through the Mobile Suica app, emphasizes integration with Suica and works at merchants accepting the code-payment service.
Separate from IC payments and future PASMO support
Reports describe teppay as a code-payment mechanism separate from the conventional Suica IC balance, supporting purchases above ¥20,000. This does not mean the IC balance limit itself has changed. Payment-infrastructure provider TMN’s earlier announcement places Mobile PASMO’s launch in spring 2027. Check participating merchants and current conditions before use.
