Staff can build and run agents for their work
The agency plans two AI-agent environments for approximately 180,000 government employees. Agent Chat, rolling out to ministries and agencies from October 20, offers a simple way to create and run agents. Gennai Kobo, for more advanced construction and execution, is targeted for introduction by around December.
Defining responsibilities alongside deployment
The published Gennai Standards set out responsibilities and requirements for users, administrators and developers, addressing security and governance as AI capabilities and the scope of actions expand. Both environments are also scheduled for release as Gennai OSS Version 2.0 around February 2027; that is a future plan.
